Faefever (Fever, Book 3)

Faefever (Fever, Book 3)

The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

    From Publishers Weekly
Urban Celtic fantasy slides down a dark, depressing slope in bestseller Moning's third Fever thriller (after Bloodfever), centered on a hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a black magic book more than a million years old. As All Hallow's Eve in Dublin approaches, the walls between the human world and Faery verge on collapse. Can former Georgia peach MacKayla Mac Lane prevent a total invasion of the Unseelie Court? Originally intent on avenging her sister Alina's murder committed by Unseelie Lord Master, Mac's now a power-player in the war between the Seelie (good Fae) and Unseelie (bad Fae), after learning she's a Celtic sidhe-seeker who can sniff out OOPS (Objects of Power). Meanwhile, the attractive V'Lane, a death-by-sex Fae, wants Mac's help in securing the Sinsar Dubh for his Seelie queen, Aoibheal. At the end, erotic shocks await Mac in Dublin's vast Dark Zone, setting up feverish—if wary—expectations for the next installment. (Sept.)

Add another to the chorus of one star reviews.1
This is a total waste of time. I took all three books out of the library, thinking them a trilogy. No chance. This could go on for 14 more books.

Simply said, in the third book, the first sentence of the prologue and the last sentence of the book are the same. In other words, the reader is back where the book starts... wherever that is.

Now I have a new policy. Read the reviews, First

    Addictive!4
It was only two months ago that one of the Moning books was tagged as a suggested read, so I bought it. Since that day, I have devoured all 7 of the Highlander series as well as the three Fae books. Now, I have to wait 8 months for my next fix :)

Moning is an exceptionally creative writer. To call her books Romance is too simple. Yes, there is romance in each Highlander book, but there is also a complex storyline with historical tidbits weaved it. In the Fae series, Moning leaves the Romance behind and dives into the dark side. I can only say that my husband, an avid sci-fi and fantasy reader who has never read a romance novel, read the below suggested Highlander books. And yes, he liked them. We have enjoyed many lively discussions of these books and characters.

I would strongly recommend reading Kiss of the Highlander (The Highlander Series, Book 4) The Dark Highlander (The Highlander Series, Book 5) and The Immortal Highlander in that order before beginning the Fae series. The background information on the Fae/Fairies is essential to really "getting" and enjoying the Fae series. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Word is that the 4th Fae book will not be written in the first person. JZB's point of view will finally be provided. Ms. Moning, please hurry. I need to know if Mac learned to resist "Voice" and if JZB is a fae prince or a dark druid.

    LOVED IT!5
I love this series. So much so i have pre-ordered the next book! Yes there is no immediate gratification here--but it is such an intense ride. Love it for what it is--a great story!
